Koleson L. Meakin was born August 31, 2021 and passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2026 at four years old, surrounded by love. He lived with TPK1 Thiamine-Deficient Leigh Disease, a rare genetic condition. His smile was the best in the world, lighting up every room.
He never complained. He continued to shine. He continued to have faith. He inspired everyone he met. This foundation exists to carry his light forward.

03BrittanyHealth & Wellness ChairBrittany is a Registered Nurse who previously worked at Unity Hospital and later had the privilege of serving as Koleson’s private duty nurse. Through that experience, she formed a close friendship with the Meakin family and witnessed firsthand the challenges families face while caring for a medically complex child. Now a stay-at-home mom, Brittany brings passion and joy to Cared by Koleson, excited to help the non-profit’s mission in supporting families.
04JenniferCommunity Engagement ChairJen is Koleson’s grandma and has spent years caring for children through her in-home daycare while staying actively involved in the local community and schools. With a heart for serving others, she volunteers her time and talents to support Cared by Koleson’s mission.
05ZandyrMarketing & Communications LeadZandyr is Koleson’s uncle and without hesitation, offered his graphic design talents to help bring the organization’s vision to life. Through his creativity and willingness to help others, he is honored to continue on Koleson’s memory and carry on his legacy while supporting Cared by Koleson.
